In joining the Clean Canvas team as a Senior Digital Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing world-leading ecommerce themes for a broad base of online stores and merchant levels. You will help oversee the maintenance and enhancement of our existing catalogue from a design perspective.

Role Details

Clean Canvas are an agency supplying premium digital products to the Shopify marketplace for use by all levels of merchants, brands, and Partner Agencies. We design, develop, and support world-class themes through leading and scalable technology for the Shopify platform for use by entrepreneurs and enterprise level brands alike.

In joining the Clean Canvas team as a Senior Digital Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing world-leading ecommerce themes for a broad base of online stores and merchant levels. You will also oversee the maintenance and enhancement of our existing catalogue from a design perspective based on user feedback, browser technologies, and device types advance. There will also be continual design work in relation to branded assets and various channel content creation.

Daily tasks:
– Working with cross-functional teams (developers, directors, designers ) to drive design vision and strategy that meets the needs of our users and business goals
– Planning, designing, discussing, and iterating on theme designs and feature elements
– Keeping up to date with design standards to inform future implementations
– Constantly educating yourself on our products and their features, settings, and configurable elements as well as the Shopify platform
– Tasks assigned by management

Role specifications:
– Full Time
– Remote working environment
– Have appropriate remote work set-up – such as a quiet space, your own stable internet connection service
– A back-up location in case of issues with the primary location
– Attending team meetings [virtual]
– Attending in-person team events at intervals during the year
– Maintain Clean Canvas standards of practice at all times
– Ensure privacy and security practices are followed at all times for merchants, Clean Canvas, and Shopify
– Legal right to work in the EU/UK. Due to the necessity for team interaction, we are looking to fill this position within Europe/UK time zones

Skill/Attributes Required

Role Requirement:
– Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite and prototyping software [Zeplin, Figma, Sketch, InVision etc]
– University degree or equivalent in Design
– 5+ years of design experience
– Deep understanding design approaches, including mobile-first and responsive design [across device types]
– Link to a portfolio
– Experience building journey flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences
– Creating hi-fidelity prototypes for development teams to use as build guide
– Experience working closely with developers from conceptual stages to delivery
– Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic
– Ability to deliver to deadlines and adhere to roadmap targets
– High level of familiarity and experience with the Shopify platform
– Strong command of English and excellent communication skills
– Deep understanding of design systems and logical design decision making
– A real passion for visual design and typography
– Deeply collaborative and iterative approach to product design
– A strong understanding of the tools and technologies involved in designing and building interactive digital experiences

Bonus skills:
– Ability to prototype in HTML, CSS or JavaScript a plus but not essential for this role
– Familiarity/Experience with Shopify theme structure and configuration a massive advantage
– A solid understanding of best practice UX, UI and interactive design methodologies
– A background in Ecommerce or being an entrepreneur
