#ILoveTheseGuys Creative Inspiration: Stella Shih

Shillington students from around the world share the work of creatives who inspire them in the #ILoveTheseGuys series. In this post, New York graduate LiSun Francisco highlights projects from the Taiwan based designer Stella Shih.

Stella Shih is an independent, freelance graphic designer. She designs on multiple platforms including branding, print design, packaging and product design. I love Shih’s work because it maintains a light, often playful tone in its execution, but is meticulous in its fundamental design, using grids and circles, creating a clean composition. Shih is especially conscious of connecting the essence of the brand to the work, using key typographic elements and stark imagery to facilitate cohesion.

“The concept “room temperature” seeks to express is that of people and design: just like the activity between freezing and boiling points, through collision and integration, a comfortable room temperature is found.”

Space Is Only Noise If You Can See

“I took on the responsibility of the visual design for the sound artist Chi Po Hao at this solo exhibition at the Waley Art Gallery. Each English letter of the title caption was meticulously designed to correspond with the exhibition theme utilizing negative space.”

Legend Fun Board Game Store

“This project was executed for a store specializing in selling board games located in the Shilin District of Taipei. The conceptual theme of a “table” was used as the guiding principle in the overall store design.”
