Shillington students from around the world share the work of creatives who inspire them in the #ILoveTheseGuys series. In this post, New York student Priyanka Rampuria highlights projects from San Francisco based lettering artist and designer Erik Marinovich.
Erik is a co-founder of Friends of Type has been creating logos and type since 2009 for big names like Nike, Target, Google, Hilton, Facebook, Sonos, Sharpie, The Criterion Collection, Air Canada, Gap and Ford Motor Company. Since 2012, he’s been the co-founder of the creative workspace Title Case which provides workshops and lectures.
He uses illustrative typography to communicate the message to the target audience and believes that digital design and hand-lettered typography co-exists. His passion for organic, calligraphic style and love for contemporary design is evident in his work.
10×16: a project where every year, Eric Mortensen and Richard Perez host a group of artists to reimagine the album artwork for their top 10 albums of the year.
