Inspiration can come from anywhere. So, on the first Friday of every month, we’re sharing some of our Shillington team’s favourite things from the past four weeks. This month, Shanti Sparrow, Head of Teaching at Shillington New York, tells us what was on her radar in March.

1. To Follow: Shawna X

Shawna X is an ever evolving and inspirational independent artist. I’m in love with her vibrant explorative projects—particularly check out the F*** Your Manners installation at A/D/O and her fun collaboration with the Museum of Pizza.

2. To Read: DESIGN{H}ERS

Published by Victionary, DESIGN{H}ERS is an exploration and celebration of women working in design today—showcasing up-and-coming talent, spanning the globe and all design mediums, and telling the compelling stories of masters in their fields. Both intriguing and inspirational, this book shows that the future truly is female.

3. To Go: Escher x Nendo: Between Two Worlds

Escher x Nendo are masters of tessellations, optical illusions, impossible inventions and representations of infinity. The most recent exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, running until 7 April, is a visually stunning and inspirational retrospective.

4. To Listen: Reply All

Reply All is a podcast investigating the mysteries and origins of some of the internets most intriguing happenings. Some of my favourite episodes include to listen to while designing include; Zardulu, Long Distance, Lost in a Cab and The Snapchat Thief.

5. Wildcard: House of Yes

House of Yes started as a bohemian paradise for artists, musicians, dancers and creatives. They have since evolved into a space dedicated to connection, creativity and community. As the only venue in New York City with a dedicated in-house creative team every week they hold sensory experiences in the form of film, music, performance and parties. It’s a place where all things weird and wonderful are celebrated.
