Communication Arts 2020 Typography Competition

Calling all typographers and type enthusiasts! The Communication Arts Typography Competition celebrates the best typography in globally in design, advertising, typeface designs, calligraphy and hand lettering.

Submit your best work for projects created from September 2018 through September 2019. Winning entries will be featured in the Communication Arts Typography Annual, on their website and promoted to their creative network. Additionally, all winners will receive a personalized Award of Excellence—one of the impressive awards in the industry!

  • Advertising: print/out-of-home advertising, advertising posters, direct mail
  • Brochures: annual reports, brochures, catalogs, corporate literature
  • Posters: concert, performance, exhibition, theater, gallery
  • Ephemera: invitations, announcements, greeting cards
  • Packaging: labels, shopping bags, audio/video/software packaging
  • Books: covers and complete books
  • Periodicals: magazines, newspapers, newsletters
  • Digital Media: websites, blogs, mobile applications
  • Environmental: signage, environmental graphics, museum/tradeshow graphics
  • Identity: logos/trademarks, business papers, collateral
  • Motion: movie/network/program titles, television commercials, web videos, animations
  • Typeface Design: commercially available typefaces and type families
  • Calligraphy/Hand Lettering: hand-drawn type for commercial purposes
  • Unpublished: experimental/personal work not published
  • Student Work: work created for school assignments
